I had an amazing one-on-one consultation with a Zakat expert from NZF regarding all my personal Zakat questions. The gentleman was very knowledgeable and he dug deep with all my investment vehicles, and he made sure all my questions were answered. It’s an amazing service - I wish I set this up sooner. I submitted my application on February 10th, before Ramadan. I followed up numerous times by phone and email but received no response. Eventually, someone did reply, and I clearly explained that I was facing a financial emergency—unable to pay rent and with no source of income. Despite this, I was told my application was placed on a waiting list, in a way that made it seem like it was my fault. While they have supported me in the past, I must say I have never experienced such ignoring in my life as I have when seeking their help. My financial hardship was met not with empathy even during Ramadan, the month of mercy.

I set up automatic payments of 200 CAD for the last days of Ramadan but as much as 300 CAD has been taken out of my account daily. I have tried multiple times to contact NZF to stop these unauthorized payments but have received no response. I am stressed and unable to make these payments but no one is taking responsibility for this.
Edit: I finally heard back after posting this review but I still have not received a full refund as was promised.

I appreciate the fact that we have a local organization that diligently handles the entire process for Zakat within Canada. I know there is a huge need within Canadian Muslims and NZF is tirelessly working to support them in Canada

We applied for zakat in last year---sometime in September/October. We had to wait for four months for a response in regards to an approval or rejection---they kept asking for statements, and then at a point they said they closed the file on grounds of not receiving the statements they asked for, even though we sent them. If it were not for another person who was connected to the foundation, we probably wouldn't have heard anything at all. And in the end, after waiting all this time, all we get is a $100 gift card, for one time, and no other financial aid.
They are supposed to help Muslims---especially those who are helpless, and in my case I am widowed, and disabled, but they don't. And the aid was our lives matter.

NZF is doing an amazing job! We are so blessed to take part in assisting the needy here in Canada. Helping the elderly, disabled, widows and orphans. This is the true Islamic spirit!
