Let me tell you a little bit about Karis.. first off it's a second stage housing so if you're coming off the streets off intoxicating alcohol and drugs and you've done your first stage which is detox then a treatment center And you successfully complete it then you move on to second stage.
(If you choose to do so)

Coming into Karis I was hopeful, on the second floor which is where the newcomers would come, I get my own room with a bathroom, closet and it's furnished. There's a kitchen and lounge area just next door to my room, which houses everyone's food and the suppers that everyone eventually cooks one day with a partner every Monday to Thursday. Friday through Sunday you cook for yourself.( Or if it's a holiday).

They also have space in separate fridges and counterspace for you to put your own food where you label it , The only thing is you have to watch in case other people tend to take your things, so far my time around it's been pretty good but there has been some items that went "missing" and they will do room searches but it's not always a win.

Downstairs where you come in to do your intake and you do your breathalyzer and your pee test which here they call it the VIPee test, they also have the classroom which is nice and open lots of windows and just a small class of girls The program is quite easy It's all about healing your inner self and finding employment and really just focusing on building your self up again.

CSW- A.K.A The workers, here are phenomenal each and every one of them have their own special gifts that they provide and their uniqueness all intertwines with one another and it's really a great system that they have here they are great supports and very easy to come and talk to if anything's wrong or you feel some type of way they're there for you the only thing is that they close between 1500ish-1600ish (3pm-4pm). The staff is called CSW and they have their own office on the second floor that you can knock on the door and ask for your medications or ask for anything that you need in that particular time and if they can help you they will you'll also get assigned a key worker which you will meet with every week and she is basically there to help you through the program and make sure you're hitting your targets on point and that you're getting the best out of the program that you possibly can get and don't be scared to ask questions.

RESTRICTIONS- so on the second floor once you're done you're two weeks restrictions which is the first two weeks you get here you're not allowed to leave off the property you're allowed to walk around the park which there is a big circle you can walk around but you're not allowed to leave past that or else you get a "progress report"what those are is kind of like a detention slip it means if you get three in a week you get put back on restrictions for three days and if you get seven in that week it goes up to 10 and if it's more than seven and it's a pattern the next week you can be banned from Karis and be sent home.

FLOOR 2 VS FLOOR 3
So floor two once you're off restrictions you're allowed to go anywhere you want as long as it's after programming and you must sign in and sign out at the checkout sheet that is downstairs they do have to check your items when coming back but basically you're allowed to go do whatever you want

FLOOR 3- When you move up to floor three after you've been to Karis for over 6 months and they have room for you to move up you get your own little apartment to share with another one of karis's attending woman there who also has leveled up past floor two and you share this apartment you also get more of your income( is what I'm told ) as you get to shop for yourself and bring your own meals and you get your own kitchen and living room, your own bedroom and bathroom and your own space and that is to get you ready for stage four for when you're ready to move out and into one of Karis's actual apartments, which is basically what you're working hard to get for and that's why you're here for some/most people..
Ranout of space to addmore

They don't deserve ANY stars. My daughter was supposed to go after rehab. First time we went, she failed drug test for alcohol.
She doesn't drink (fentanyl is her drug of choice). I was not impressed but left as they said we could come back in a week. Drove back to Kelowna- a 2 hour drive each way....dragged all her belongings in. She AGAIN, failed the drug test due to alcohol. I knew it was a false positive. We don't drink, no alcohol in our house. We live an hour out of town and she has no access to alcohol. We were in the lobby, with all her belongings. Not taken to private room, but right there where every one comes in and out of building. I pleaded her case, said there is NO way she drank anything. They basically said we were lying. I started to drag her belongings back to the car....a lady followed bringing a suitcase. Me, thinking oh at least she is helping with that.....NOPE, she rolled the suitcase outside the door and turned around and locked the door. I immediately drove to Vernon with my daughter, got a drug/alcohol test at a lab....at my expense...$180!!! Came back negative. Sent results to Karis...was met with so sorry it didn't work out....blah blah blah. My daughter is now back on the street as she would not stay out in our home an hour out of town with us. No meetings out here, no friends or people to hang out with, no support other than us. I am so angry, and although I know it was her choice to use again, I truly believe if she had been admitted when she was fresh out of rehab....she would still be clean and actually enjoying life. Look it up, there are several reasons for false positive alcohol/drug tests. I truly believe what they are trying to do is great....but you MUST change your attitude towards people and treat people with respect. Now along with the heartache of an addicted daughter, I have added anger because I know she would have stayed clean. SHAME ON YOU!!!

It would be simple to say, that Karis saved our daughter's life but as with most families who have a child or loved one struggling through addiction it is never that simple. It is often said, "You don't know what you don't know" and in recovery what most of us don't know is it takes a sustainable long-term recovery program to help create lasting results. Well, Karis offers exactly that, time, treatment, accountability, and guidance intending to create meaningful and sustainable change. Our daughter after trying some short-term treatment facilities and struggling to "get clean" on her own was fortunate to find Karis and has never looked back. The change was gradual at first, but then one day you could see it in her eyes, it was unexpected and made me cry (as it does now). She was not only alive and safe but through her eyes, I could see the person we fought so hard to save had finally found her way back. We don't know where our family would be without Karis but we do know we would not be here so thank you.

I volunteer to teach Yoga to the women who reside there. I support the work they do there and respect the quality of services they provide. They need to be recognized in Kelowna for the caring, respectful and supportive work they provide. That's why I volunteer there. Learn more....

February 4 2024, the RCMP break down my front door (swat team style)...& then; Feb 6th 2024, Geri Pauls, Deborah Klassen & Diane Beamish~(psychologist) took 3 designer purses from me. 2 Louis Vuitton purses and 1 Burberry purse...
they also had my *vehicle towed $800.*
Thanks!

I do have a suggestion...Stop putting your clients in a bedroom suite with unsupervised men to do your business.

**6 months later.
Still no resolution to the things taken from me.

Geri Pauls, Deborah Klassen & Diane Beamish..?

Lovely atmosphere and even better friends. Some of the rules are fair for the most part and the structure and accountability are perfect. Many, many chances are given for clients to continue their recovery when they have hard times so everyone feels safe and comfortable to work with staff and counselors for help.

Most horrible place I've ever lived . I was threatened to be kicked out because APPERENTLY I was swearing in my room which is a private room . Felt like I was walking on egg shells there ALL THE TIME . I wouldn't suggest to anyone to go there I also NEVER received my damage deposit back. Some staff was nice and some were very rude . They say they are a support society pfftt well let me tell you first hand I felt NO support and I know lots of other girls who didn't either . I also don't suggest going there with your babies the parenting side is AWFUL . They tell you LIES and make you feel very unsafe especially with ministry and children of families. I felt very uncomfortable the whole time I was there. Glad when i got to leave
