Received a food hamper with many useful food items. However, the two frozen packs of meat I was given were freezer burned and rotten smelling. It was horrible, and I was very sad to know there would be no meat just vegetables on the table tonight..... They should be more careful when giving out food hampers. No EXPIRED food and no freezer burned meat products!! Get it together, people depend on your hampers for sustenance and nutrition. This cereal was from the hamper I received the first week of October\2023 Disgraceful!

whoever runs this place should be ashamed of themselves and fired ! My Mother Got into a Bad Car accident , she was unable to work , she had to go for operation , I quit my job in order to help her out around the house, we dont have any food to eat , so we thought we would try out this Service

I have recieved 3 hampers so far
every time :

Mainly all the Food was below satisfactory level , nearly all the fruit and veggies were rotten , with visible mold and black rot ,

bags of crackers and chips were already opened and taped back up !

90% of the items you get are 3 months past the expiry date !

Meat was clearly frozen after expriy as I defrosted it and it smelled like a sour wet dog !
totally spoiled meat

my question is to management : People come to you for help , whos fault is it if we get sick eating this food ? food that you certify is good ! ?
what if i get very ill and bed ridden !?

there should be more of a screening process
this job aint rocket science , get 2 or 3 people to look at every item that comes in the door and pitch out or deny any expired / damaged and rotten food , seems common sense

or is the problem with the people within our community !?
who think they are helping when they are not !

you donators should also be ahsamed of youself for giving in rotten / expired and moldy food !
would you or your family still eat this ? ! NO ! ?
then why would you supposedly give it to ( Less fortunate people)

and why is it always No name and horrible quality products
I thought wealthy people donate to this place
you know how many millionaires are in Penticton
do they all eat No name ? I highly doubt it

also lots of these products seemed to be damaged and smashed up during transport , so grocery store can no longer sell it , so they send to you guys ! , thats not fair ! the grocery stores can send that back to head office

we dont want to eat damaged products
are we second class citizens ?
no I have been Born and Raised in Canada for over 30 years
i deserve to be treated better than this !
I have never been in a situation in life where i didnt have food till now
and this is how i am treated ! ? 🙁

that does not help anyone , half this stuff goes in the garbage when I get home !

We had visited this store when in the area a few years ago, and found it such a help, with very reasonable prices and lots of choices. So we went back, but were shocked by the prices! Didn’t buy anything. Very disappointing experience.

I've slowly watched this place go from actually caring about Penticton, to giving out rotten meats and vegetables and employing people who can't speak proper English, what a way to support the community

It was good, we didn't buy anything but some DVD movies. When we got to the till, we had the right colored price tag for a bonus discount. Great surprise. Nice place to browse for second hand goodies.😽
