My husband and I took our young son to visit this shelter, as we’re considering a new family pet (our sweet girl died at age 16, last year, following a sudden illness). The staff didn’t really speak to us besides quick directives on what we couldn’t see/touch … it seems like you aren’t allowed to consider any pet up close until an application is complete, which seems backward. How do you know the pet is right for you? The facility is lovely, so that’s an awful shame. We’ll consider adopting elsewhere.

It is now 3 weeks since I adopted Ollie. He is 8.5 years old and had no problem settling in. He is a big boy and is on a weight management program.

HSLM have been very supportive and have provided his weight management food for the first month or so.

Ollie had a history of biting if he gets over stimulated and has bitten me once. Now I recognize his body language when he gets excited. I then ignore him and move to another room. He does listen when I talk to him and understands the word no.

Ollie does not sleep with me but stays untill I'm asleep then goes to his bed until morning and ready for his breakfast.

My granddaughter has come home from South Korea and Ollie loves her. He spends a lot of time with her.

I recommend adopting from this amazing new facility. All animals get the best of medical attention and loving care. Each pet is placed carefully with the right parent. Being a senior I asked for an older cat with relative good health. His only problem was being very over weight. Ollie was the right choice for me. We love him to bits..

The London Humane Society has always been great to deal with. Everyone is so helpful and friendly. My parents have adopted 2 dogs from them over the years and have had great experiences both times. Very excited about their new facility!

I adopted Theo almost 4 months ago now. Going here always makes me so emotional seeing how many animals need forever homes. Despite being very busy the staff were friendly, and you could tell the animals that are in their care are well loved by those who work there. Theos description was very accurate, this boss bun loves anything he can sink his teeth into and is a treat fanatic exactly as described. I was also impressed to see how detailed the adoption application was to make sure the animals are going to a home that is a perfect match. The day I met Theo I was able to take him home, thank you for taking good care of him before I could 🙏

Love the new facilties that they have. Especially now that they have an in-house veterinarian, the animals care they need quicker.

I had to surrender my mom’s cats as she was hospitalized and could no longer take care of them. We were treated very poorly and the cats as if they were poisonous. On my application, I wrote that they may have Giarda, which is a parasite which can only be transmitted by feces or water sharing. They said I didn’t write that, and I saw the form which they highlighted that I wrote it but never apologized. They made us sit outside with 5 cats and move them to the back door, which was very difficult as I have as it was cold and raining. Furthermore, they didn’t care at all about the cats. I wanted to talk to them about their personalities, but it was like pulling teeth, and then they finally listened and wrote down what I told them. Quite frankly, I do not feel good about them being there, I am so afraid of them being neglected because of their unfounded fear of the parasite. I have been extremely traumatized and wish I had somewhere else to take them. We love them, and it was hard enough to surrender them, but this agency made it a living hell. I don’t recommend them at all. I would also like to mention that many people I know have said it is extremely difficult to adopt there they make it almost impossible, and I have experienced this firsthand I am wondering now if it is because they want more money from their contributors. Not only that, but I don’t know why, but they do not seem interested in getting the animals home. Update!. We still don’t know what happened to the cats. Tried and tried to find out but they refused to tell us. We begged them just to let us know if they got homes at least. But their policy is not to tell you anything about them. I think this is very cruel!!. My mom still asks about them to this day and it is heartbreaking 💔 not being able to tell her if they have a home or not!.

Worse place to go to give your animals will say they will call u back then don’t for 2 weeks and don’t let you inside of there building even when it’s freezing cold and make u wait outside and absolutely no staff come out and only a volunteer that has absolutely no idea what she’s talking about
