This has to be one of the best food banks of the Island. Staff is very friendly, generous and helpful. They have a safe hangput spot out back for the homeless and provide free coffee and tea in a sheltered area. Highly recommend and also thank you to everyone who makes this place happen.

Very friendly and helpful. I like the idea that they provide meals, free of charge to those that otherwise wouldn't get to eat.

Very polite and helpful people that work here.
I've had a lunch here once and it wasn't bad.
They serve lunch 6 days a week.

The only thing I don't really like is people can only get help once a month with a hamper, one hamper doesn't go far.
I understand that there are a lot of people that need help and they need to make sure everyone gets a hamper, but I know of a few people that could use the help more than once a month.
If there were someway people could get a hamper twice a month would help I think.
All in all a good place if you are running short between pay days.

Very clean, efficient place. Kind personable staff. Good lunches and coffee. If you ever in need of a lunch or bread or hamper or just some friendly faces to keep you company while you have a coffee or tea I had to recommend you stop in

I dropped by to seek out my friend who I understood was there on this occasion. I was offered a bowl of soup, a sandwich, pastries and other goodies. I declined most of what I was offered however I did have a have a cup of coffee and enjoyed a cookie. The place was clean, people were well mannered and respectful of each other and the facility in general. While I wasn't able to locate my friend at this location I was provided some insight and my next place to check was successful. For those in need this place truly is a much needed solution to the constantly increasing cost of food and the all too often shortage of gainful employment opportunities. As the gap between the rich and the poor continues to grow services such as this will continue to be necessary and the demand I'm sure will grow. The people who dedicate their time and energy volunteering each day, week, month and year are truly wonderful people and deserve out respect!

The people who attend are generally polite, friendly and respectful. The volunteers are wonderful people who happily donate their time and energy in to helping the less fortunate. We produce more than enough food for everyone to be well fed in this country however distribution and greed amongst others factors make it a challenge, this is a great example of how society has found solutions to these challenges.

The volunteers and staff at the Cowichan Valley Basket Society food bank are extraordinary.

Over 100 volunteers and a small staff keep the food bank running 6 days a week feeding hundreds of people every day.

Soup, sandwiches and tasty treats are provided from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Coffee and tea also available.

No cost of course!

Food hampers are given out 3 days a week (Mon, Wed & Fri) to over 1700 families a year.

No one leaves here hungry!
