My mom has been with Arbutus for 10 months now. Most of the care workers a very kind and helpful. This is a very large facility, once long ago a hospital. There are 2 floors with about 4 wings. The food like many long term care is bland. They encourage you to bring our buy food for your family. On long weekends they are short staffed. Overall I'd give 4 *for cleanliness, 3.5* for staffing, 2-2.5 * for food, 3.5-4 * for activities. After COVID, they don't seem to bring them out on outings. That would be something they should improve. Communication is alright. Be patient as it takes time to have management approve request. The staff seem to do there best considering. They are open to feedback if you have time to attend the meetings.

I do not live close by but try and make a trip as often as possible and the staff are always the best! They seem to always to have the patients best interests at heart. Truly left feeling like my loved one was well taken care of. Will for sure recommend this facility.

It is an agonizing decision to put a family member in a care home so you want to pick the right home. Arbutus Care Home is beyond my best expectations. You won't find more caring and dedicated staff, from the care workers to the administrative staff. I spend a lot of time at the home and can see the genuine affection between the staff and the residents. It is spotlessly clean, the meals are well planned and balanced, with a lot of variety and perfectly catering to the senior residents. I would highly recommend Arbutus Care Home as a trusthworthy and highly efficient care home.

As a geriatric community nurse myself, I was quite anxious when it came time for my elderly Mother to enter into long term care. After an initially bad experience at another Vancouver care facility (which I won't name), I can't begin to express my relief and immense gratitude to the care staff and administration staff at Arbutus Care Center, after my Mom moved there in January 2022. The care team members at Arbutus are professional and work compassionately together to provide an exceptionally high level of resident care. From a professional point of view, the communication between staff and family is exceptional. When a loved one transitions from home to long term care, it can be very challenging and stressful in the beginning. In my 25 year career as a geriatric psychiatry nurse, I have had the pleasure to work with many different social workers. I have to say, that at Arbutus Care Center, the social worker Tyffany has been truly amazing, she and the administrative staff have gone above and beyond their duty to effectively improve my Mother's care experience since she has moved in. For the first time in years, my Mom seems happy and I feel I can go away on a holiday and take a collective sigh of relief in knowing my Mom is safe and being respectfully and lovingly cared for around the clock. The staff have a fun sense of delivering care and often make my Mom laugh and feel positive about her situation. The rooms are spacious with pretty views from big windows that are surrounded by gardens with old growth established trees and flowering bushes. I would recommend Arbutus Care Center to anyone looking to moving into care or for concerned family members looking for a care home with a respectful and compassionate level of care for their loved ones.

New management brought huge positive effect to residents and staffs. Variety of program including showing hockey game with beer, dancing with staffs and high quality of concert. Also, they have two beautiful garden and large patio on second floor. It was very impressed.

Great and friendly staff. Recently there's been quite a few changes within the management core - very receptive of family's inputs and willing to make modifications upon request. As for the food - it is not independent living, so minced food is definitely not appetizing but reduces the likelihood of choking.

The Staff and RN team in general are Friendly and Cooperative ***
The facility itself very Clean plus provides lovely well maintained Gardens for the Residents during the warmer Spring & Summer Season !*

My dad passed away there in July 22 and there was some outstanding money we didn’t get it back yet because of carelessnesses of new account guy his name is pemo
