Recently, I completed my Class 7 at the South Red Deer Registry, and unfortunately, I’ve had nothing but disappointing experiences.

During my test, the environment was extremely loud—people were talking, laughing, and even a customer was yelling at an employee. I asked the staff if they could quiet things down so I could concentrate, but their response was dismissive, telling me they couldn’t control the environment and that I could wait if it bothered me.

After I passed, I apologized to the staff for my frustration, hoping to smooth things over, but that only made things worse. Instead of acknowledging my concerns or their part in the situation, they essentially told me it was my own problem and that I should’ve waited.

To make matters worse, when I received my certificate, they didn’t include that I require glasses to drive—even though I cannot read without them. This mistake forced me to return to the registry to fix the issue because they hadn’t done it correctly the first time.

Before returning, I called ahead to confirm what I needed to bring and was told I only needed my ID and credit card—not the paper learner’s license. When I arrived, however, the staff insisted I needed the paper license. I explained that I had called ahead and was told differently, but they were dismissive and rude, refusing to acknowledge the miscommunication on their part.

On top of all this, the staff didn’t even seem to know who had called me. I spent 10 minutes trying to figure out which staff member had reached out, and even after explaining everything, the employee I spoke with wasn’t following along. I handed over my Alberta ID since I don’t have my license yet, but she kept insisting I needed the paper license despite my efforts to explain the situation.

This is the second time I’ve had to return to fix their mistakes, and the miscommunication is beyond frustrating. If your staff calls a customer, they should document the situation properly so customers don’t have to explain the company’s own mess-ups.

I understand I got frustrated, but it was because of the situation. When I apologized for my frustration, I expected some acknowledgment of their part in the issue. If the staff had apologized for the mistakes and the time they wasted, I would’ve seen the situation differently. Instead, I was met with hostility and essentially told it was my fault and that this is just how their business operates.

It’s extremely frustrating to go into a business, give them the benefit of the doubt, and apologize for my frustration, only to have my concerns dismissed. It felt like they were trying to sweep the issues under the rug rather than addressing them. There should’ve been someone to talk to about the situation, but instead, I was left feeling disrespected and unheard.

The overall experience was chaotic, unprofessional, and exhausting.

Typical registries office. Most of the people there don't seem to excited to be there. Helping people is low on their priority list no matter how long the line is. At least it's easy enough to get in and out of

Why didn't you give me the transfer right away? I asked, my wife called me, my children are sick and this woman in glasses came to me and threw me out from the table like a dog, spoke sternly to me. If she had been more adequate and explained it to me in a human way, I would have been pleased. But I lost money and time for nothing.

Decent customer service here. Red deer is far too busy for this store to close at 5. It needs to be open at least till 5:30 to relive the pressure off of One Stop registries. The working class can’t make it in to use registry services here with closing at 5.

I took my class 6 road test here and the examiner is so great. Clear instruction and explains things well. The ladies that work the counter are all so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend Red Deer Registries for everything.

Best experience ever!!!
Took my road test with rick and he was super nice during the whole time. Not only him hut the other staff members were really welcoming as well.
