My family is far removed from the disparity of what families and children are experiencing beyond the safe guard of our Canadian borders.
So I was more than intrigued when I heard about this little gem of a shop in NE Edmonton.
The Second Chance Thrift Store is part of a local charity. Where I’ve since learned that every dollar I spend in their store is funds raised to ship medical and dental equipment around the world to hospitals and clinics. Volunteers bale boxes and boxes of clothing for the poor, orphanages, and relief areas around the world to places like the Ukraine. Shopping is so much more than getting “a deal” - it could mean you’re helping to send an incubator to a hospital or baby formula to an orphanage. Every dollar at Second Chance has a purpose.

This thrift store is one of the most if not the most expensive thrift store. Charging $250 for a mirror that is at Costco for $99 is crazy. Clothes that are peeling $12.99. A plate that was on sale (sale ticket at the bottom) from winners sale price was 18, they are charging $12.
This is not a thrift store, this is a boutique. I saw a lot of people walk out empty handed or have raised eyebrows because the prices are outrageous. $6.99 for a beaten up teddy bear, That should not have been donated in the first place.

Whoever is pricing these items, need not rely on eBay. Go back to the old school way of thrift store and you will raise money faster. People will buy more, you will get rid of product fast, people are more inclined to donate to your cause. You sell high for a money grab, I would not donate
Nor shop. Ouch!

The Second Chance Thrift store is one of a kind. It's clean and tidy, has beautiful displays and brandname finds. Huge variety from furniture, clothes, and books to Tupperware and sets of dishes. A great selection of beautiful Christmas things too.
